For a long time ATI and Nvidia always competing in a graphic card area. Both tries to satisfy gamer needs by releasing more and more powerful graphic cards. But since the birth of 8800 series from Nvidia, ATI seems can’t catch up with their HD38xx series. In both 3dmark and gaming benchmark they always lost. The reasons that keep ATI survive is that, (in my opinion) price of their products are always cheaper and AVIVO technology that will enhance your movie experience compare to it’s competitor.
But the only thing gamer cares is high FPS not clarity of the movie they watch, in which Nvidia does it well in this category.
But yesterday, ATI announced their new high end graphic card HD3870X2. ATI puts 2 GPU’s in a single board and give more memory to it. Below is the spec, compare to HD3870.

But can this card compete with Nvidia best 8800 series? Well, I found some review done by several sites such as legitreviews, bjorn3d, tomshardware, guru3d. All I can see is HD3870X2 win in most area of gaming or 3dmark. So, for now maybe this is the fastest graphic card offer by ATI… but for how long? Rumor said that Nvidia also preparing for their 2 GPU’s graphic card, but until this article was written, Nvidia haven’t yet confirm about this. But my prediction is pretty soon…
For those of you who like eye candy when playing game and chasing high FPS, this is the card for you. For $449 from Newegg, you can safisfy your gaming thirst and hunger.
